Chapter 9

After grabbing their bags from the van everybody claimed a bed. Marc chose one back in the corner. To his surprise, Lance took the bunk next to his.

"Well, what do you guys want for supper?" asked Marc.

"Pizza!!!!" everyone shouted.

"Ok, Justin, will you place the order and have them delivered to the motel office. Be sure to use my name," said Marc.

"Hi, I'd like to place a order to be delivered. Yes. The Bunk House Motel. Cabin 24.
We'd like one large cheese with extra cheese. One large veggie. And two large with everything. Hold on, I'll ask."

"Does anyone want anchovies?"

Marc's, Chris', and Joey's hands went up.

Back on the phone. "One with, one without. Do you have soda? Great, two liters. Give us two coke and two root beer."

"Just, how long and how much?" shouted Marc.

"Ok, how long and how much? Thirty minutes. Thirty four ninety five, got that. We'll meet the driver at the office. Thank you. Bye."

"Food will be here in 30," said Justin.

"Ok, I'll go in 20 just in case they're early," said Marc.

"I'll go with you," said Joey.

"No, I'll take the van to the office. We don't want eagle-eyed Amy to spot any of you."

"Yeah, you're right," said Joey, handing Marc a fifty-dollar bill. "I can at least pay for supper."

Marc was back in no time with the pizza.  Chris went out to help him carry in the food. Marc had picked up a bag of ice, plastic cups, and napkins at the office.  Within twenty minutes, everything was gone.  Everybody just sat back letting their meal digest when it started.  First Chris let out a belch.  Followed by Josh.   Then Justin let out a belch that lasted forever.  Everybody got the giggles, which turned into laughter.  The laughing increased when someone farted,  which made everyone laugh harder. than Then a second fart came from some place.

"Stop it," laughed Marc. "The belching contest was bad enough, let's not get into a farting contest." Just then someone cut another one and Marc made a dash for the door and fresh air.

Sitting on the stoop, Marc slowly got control of his laughter.  Wiping his tears from his face, Marc finally got himself under control.  A minute later Lance came out gasping for breath.

"Shit, I had to get out of there.  I hope nobody lights a match or the whole place will go up." said Lance as he sat next to Marc. "I know Joey was one of the gas passers."

"How do you know?"

"Well there was a really big fart and Joey went running to the bathroom." hee... I think he messed his pants."

Marc just smiled and shook his head.

"What have we got on tap for tonight?" asked Lance.

"The Native American Ceremonial, over at the fair grounds. It's actually a gathering of all the tribes in the US and Canada. There will be a lot of crafts and displays set up and, of course, dancing."

"When do we leave?"

"As soon as Joey can get his underwear changed," Marc laughed.
**

After arriving at the fair grounds and parking everyone got out. "Ah, guys. May I point something out to you. It's getting dark. Lose the sunglasses. You look stupid."

"But it's part of our disguise," said Justin.

"Yeah, let's not call attention to ourselves by wearing dark glasses at night. Look around. How many people do you see in sun glasses?"

"See what you mean. We'll lose the glasses," said Justin.

"If we split up everything should be ok. How about everyone using a different name to throw any possible fans off."

"We haven't tried that one yet," said Josh.

"Ok, Marc, you give us new names," said Chris.

"All right. Let’s see.
Chris, you look like a David.
Josh, you look like Burt.
Lance, you look like a Tad.
Justin, you look like a Ben.
And, Joey, you look like a Billy Bob," Marc said with a snicker.

"And what name are you going to have," asked Billy Bob.

"I'm not famous, so I don't need a name," said Marc.

The others didn't agree and just stood there looking at Marc.

"Ok, I'll take a name too. I'll be Jimmie, ok?"

"That will do," said Dave.

"Meet back here after the fireworks.  Come on Billy Bob, let’s look around," said Jimmie.

Everyone had a good time and no one was recognized, although two girls were eyeing Joey trying to decide if he was who they thought he was. Marc overheard their comments and squished their hopes when he called, "Billie! Do you think Dave would like one of these?"

"I don't know, it's the wrong color," Joey said, picking up on what Marc was doing.

The Ceremonial was fantastic and from time to time Marc would spot the others in the crowd. As the fireworks were winding down Marc and Joey made their way back to the van. Unlocking the van, they got in to wait for the others to arrive.

Marc sat in the front seat, looking over at Joey. He got a big grin on his face remembering what had happened after supper.

Joey looked over to see Marc grinning at him. "What?"

Marc didn't say anything but started to giggle. Then he added a few grunts to his giggling.

Joey's eyes went wide and he started to blush. "How did you find out?"

Marc's giggles turned to laughter. Which got Joey giggling, making Marc laugh harder, causing Joey to go into fits of laughter.

The others arrived to find Marc and Joey laughing so hard they had tears running down their faces.

"What's so funny?" Josh asked.

"Ah, nothing really. You kind of had to be there to understand," giggled Marc.

Upon returning to the motel, everyone was tired and the beds were inviting. Everybody got undressed and headed for the shower.

Jokingly, Joey asked, "Chris, do you want the lights on or off?"

"Leave them on, like you'll see something you haven't seen before," said Chris,
looking over at a grinning Marc. Chris just blushed.

Everybody laughed at Chris, went and took their shower. After drying off and dressing, Marc walked up behind Chris and whispered, "Now we _have_ seen everything.

The next morning Marc was up as usual before everyone. He went for a walk enjoying the early morning. Passing a bakery, he was drawn in by the smell of fresh baked sweet rolls. He bought six of the biggest, gooiest, nuttiest, cinnamon rolls. On his way back to the motel, he stopped at the mini mart for a gallon of O J.

Upon entering the bunkhouse, he found everyone still asleep. Putting breakfast on the table, Marc went to the center of the room and shouted in the most shrilled, girlie voice.
"OH _ MY _ GOD!!!! IT'S _ IT'S _ THEM!!!! Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
IT'S NSYNC Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

All five of the guys sat straight up in their beds wide awake while looking around for the screaming fans. But all they found was Marc standing there with the biggest shit-eating grin on his face. He immediately was hit in the head by four pillows.

Laughing Marc asked, "Is everybody awake?"

"Shit, Marc. You almost gave me a heart attack," said Chris.

"Sorry, Chris, I forgot about your delicate condition, old man."  Everybody laughed except Justin. He was just sitting in his bed with a horrified look on his face.

Marc rushed over to Justin and sat on the bed facing him. Justin was breathing hard and staring straight ahead. Marc put his hands on Justin’s shoulders to try to turn him but found him rigid.

"Marc. What's wrong with Justin?" asked Lance.

"He's having a panic attack," said Marc.

Leaning into Justin's field of vision, he softly said, "Well good morning, Justin. How did you sleep? Justin. Oh Justin. Time to wake up."

Justin's gaze shifted to Marc’s dark eyes, seeing him for the first time.

Marc smiled, "Good morning, Curly. Are you alright?"

Justin grabbed Marc into a tight hug and started to cry. Marc wrapped his arms around Justin, holding him tight and started to cry as he said, "I'm so sorry. I never meant to scare you. I wasn't thinking. Please forgive me."

"What happened? I couldn't move. I couldn't get my breath. I was going to be attacked by fans. They were going to hurt me, and I couldn't move," sobbed Justin.

Sniffling, Marc said, "You had a panic attack. When you heard my girl fan impersonation, you freaked and just froze. I didn't know this would happen."

Justin and Marc relaxed their hug but did not break their hold, drawing strength from each other. Justin finally said, "Next time you want to wake me, please try something else."

"Ok. I promise," Marc replied as they broke their hug. "How about a little breakfast?"

Looking over at the concerned faces of their friends, they both just smiled at them.

"Come on guys, I found a bakery that makes the best looking and smelling cinnamon rolls so I picked us up some for breakfast."

"That's not much of a breakfast," said Chris.

"I know. But remember, we are going to hit the water park first thing this morning. We can eat after the park."

"Won't it look strange us being the only ones in the park? It may draw some attention."

"Chris, the park we are going to has a large mini golf course, and go cart tracks in front of the water park. No one will be able to see what's going on from the front entrance."

"Cool! Let’s get moving," said Chris

Marc drove around back to the employee parking lot and was met by Dave, a school mate of Marc's.

"Hey, Marc."

"Hey,  Dave how you been?" said Marc shaking Dave's hand.

"Are these your top secret friends?"

"Yeah, Dave. These are my friends Justin, Josh, Chris, Joey, and Lance. Guys, this is Dave, a class mate of mine and water park manager this summer."

After exchanging hand shakes Dave said, "The maintenance crew left about fifteen minutes ago, so the park is yours. For safety's sake there are two life guards on duty. They have been sworn to secrecy, and bribed with a three day weekend off."

"Thanks," said Josh. "What do we owe you?"

"Marc's helped me pass some tough classes, so the only thing the life guards and I want are autographs and," he said, while pulling out a camera, "our pictures taken with you all. So we can prove to our girl friends you really were here."

Laughing the guys said, "Deal."

Everybody had a blast at the park with its four water slides and wave pool. But time quickly ran out and they had to leave before the staff started to show up.

Marc pulled into a small parking lot just one block off the main business area.  After pulling into a shady spot with tall hedges on two sides, they all got out and paired up.  Marc reached into his pocket, pulled out two keys and tossed one to Josh and the other to Joey. "I had copies of the van key made, that way you can drop off any shopping and not have to carry it around all day. You guys got your cells?"

"Yeah," they said.

"Ok, if there's any trouble use them. We need to meet back here at four, have fun."

Lance and Marc headed down the street, straight to the Duck Rides. After buying their tickets, they were lucky to get on the next duck leaving for its tour. They enjoyed the ride and noticed Josh and Justin on another duck as they passed each other in the woods.
"Josh likes to look good in his designer sun glasses," said Marc.

"Yeah, he must have thirty pair. He's always shopping for shades."

"Remind me to pick up some cheep sunglasses for him. He's looking too good. And he's attracting too many stares from girls around him."

"That may explain why sometimes our disguises don't work."

Looking at Lance Marc grinned, "You know, you're not much better. We've got to figure a way to un-cute you."

"You think I'm cute? I always thought I was the sexy one."

Laughing, Marc replied, "Cute, I can work on. Even with a bag over your head, your sexy voice would give you away."

Lance responded with a big grin on his face but not looking at Marc, "You think my voice is sexy?"

As the blush rose, Marc hesitated, and then answered. "Yeah, very sexy."

Nothing more was said for the rest of the ride. Marc really didn't remember much about the rest of the ride.

'Why did I say that? True, Lance is good looking. And that voice of his drives me to distraction. But why did I say he was sexy? Oh, god. What must he be thinking. Shit, Marc, that was stupid. You don't want to loose Lance as a friend.' Looking at Lance all Marc saw was a big grin. 'He doesn't look like he's mad. But I've got to be careful. I don't want to screw this up.'

"Marc, are you coming? Marc! Earth to Marc."

"Tad, who's Marc?"

Giggling, Lance corrected himself, "Ok, Jimmy are you coming?"

"Not yet. But give me time," Marc said smiling at Lance.

Lance turned red and they both started laughing.

After hitting a few shops, Lance spotted the Wax Museum and wanted to go through it.

"You go ahead, I've seen it before. There's a shop down the street I want to check out."

"I'll go with you."

"No, I need to go there by myself."

"Why? Don't you want to be around me any more?" Lance pouted.

"How can I shop for you, if you're with me? Now take that cute butt of yours into the museum and let me shop."

Grinning Lance said, "Now I have a cute butt?"

"Go! Before I have to kick it. I'll meet you at the bench by the tree," laughed Marc as he turned and walked away. 'He is going to drive me nuts!'

Entering the shirt shop Marc started to look through the designs until he found the perfect one. He went to the counter

"Hi, can I help you?”

"Yes, I need six shirts made. Do you have light blue?"

"Yes, what sizes?"

"Four large and two extra large."

"I have them; what would you like on them?"

Marc gave the clerk all the information and paid for the shirts.

He went next door to the bookshop to look around while waiting the half hour it was going to take to complete his order.

After exiting the shirt shop with his order, Marc saw Lance had not come out of the museum yet, so he stopped at a pretzel stand.

Lance came out and spotted Marc coming down the street with a large bag hanging from his arm, a large soda in one hand, and a couple soft pretzel in the other.

"What did you buy me?"

"You'll find out later."

Spotting two pretzels, Lance asked, "Did you get one for me?"

"Yeah," Marc said while handing Lance a pretzel.

"What about my drink?"

"We can share," Marc replied, and handed Lance the drink. Lance eyed the drink. "It's root beer."

"Cool," Lance said and took a big drink.

They sat under the tree and ate their snack and spotted Chris and Joey coming toward them.

"Hey, David, Billie what's up?" said Marc.

"Glad we found you. We found a laser tag arcade and wondered if you want to come and play?"

"Tad, do you want to go play with the boys?"

Lance just grinned and nodded his head yes.

"Let us drop these packages in the van. Then we can go play."

Everybody found the arcade and the six of them got their gear on.

"Are we playing teams or individuals?" asked Justin.

"Individual," Marc quickly said.

Josh set the countdown timer for sixty seconds and pushed the start button.

Marc gave Lance a pat on his bottom and said with a grin "Good hunting," as everyone entered the maze and hurried to take up their position.

The game went along at a good clip with Josh being taken out by Chris within the first three minutes. Joey and Justin had each other pinned down giving Lance a chance to sneak up on Joey taking him out with a shot to the head. Seeing Joey stomping back to the entrance, Justin turned and got hit by Chris square in the chest. But Chris's victory was short-lived when Marc slid from around a corner on his back and nailed Chris.
Now it was down to Lance and Marc.

Through the observation window, the victims watched their friends battle it out.

"Where is Marc?" asked Chris.

"Coming up behind Lance. On the right," said Joey.

Lance had his back to Marc when Marc took a couple shots and turned and moved off in another direction.

"What's going on? That's the fourth clear shot Marc's had and he missed," said Chris.

Lance heard movement behind him and turned in pursuit of the noise. Lance finally nailed Marc five minutes later.

Turning in their gear, Josh noticed something on Lance's rear. "Tad, what do you have stuck to your rear?"

Lance reached around and peeled off a five-inch target spot. Looking at the target, he saw fourteen hit marks then started to laugh.

"So that's what Marc was up to," said Joey.

Lance walked over to Marc holding the target. "So this is what the pat on the butt was about; attaching your target."

Giggling Marc said, "It's such a cute target, I couldn't resist."

Everybody broke up at Marc's response.

Changing the subject, Marc said, "It's getting late, let's head back to the van."
